Welcome to Kam Valley Fiddlers

"Kam Valley Fiddlers" is an ongoing program that teaches young people both traditional and contemporary Canadian fiddle music and playing styles which have roots in the old Scottish and Irish traditions. The group rehearses Monday evenings at 7 PM in the music wing of Westgate High School from September through June. Primary fiddle instructor is teacher, composer and performer Rob Randle, assisted from time to time by some of the experienced "senior" fiddlers. Rob mostly uses the "call-response" technique of teaching music.

An important part of the program is assisting the young fiddlers with stage performance and developing a repertoire of fiddle tunes they can play from memory. Where they are interested, the young fiddlers are encouraged to perform at a variety of venues around town. Dave Kimpton plays guitar accompaniment and looks after the paper work for the group."

See our schedule for further information on performances.
